Donations Policy
Heart Buddies

Heart Buddies is grateful for every donation received. Donations help us provide comfort, support and encouragement to children and families affected by congenital heart disease and open heart surgery.
1. How Donations Are Used
Donations may be used to support Heart Buddies activities, including:
- Providing Heart Buddy therapy bears, books and comfort items
- Supporting the Heart Hero Stars initiative
- Helping families access peer support through the Heart Buddies community
- Maintaining the website and online community spaces
- Helping families connect through shared experiences and encouragement
- Covering administration and operating costs
2. Registered Charity Status
Heart Buddies is currently awaiting registered charity status.
Until registration is complete, we will be transparent about how funds are received, managed and used.
3. Restricted and General Donations
Most donations are treated as general donations, meaning they can be used where Heart Buddies believes they are most needed.
If a donation is given for a specific purpose, we will make reasonable efforts to honour that purpose where possible.
4. Donation Refunds
If a donation has been made in error, please contact us as soon as possible.
Refunds may be considered where there has been a genuine mistake, duplicate payment or processing error.
Transaction fees may not always be refundable depending on the payment provider.
5. Payment Processing
Online donations may be processed securely by third party payment providers.
Heart Buddies does not store full payment card details.
6. Transparency
Heart Buddies aims to use donations carefully, responsibly and in line with its purpose.
As the organisation grows, we intend to provide clearer updates about the impact of donations and how support is being used.
